It works with no signal

Basements, festival fields, car parks at 2am. Once it is on your home screen it answers with no bars and no data.

It is not an app

Nothing downloads, nothing shows up in an app store history, and there is no account. It is this website, given a shortcut.

Steps for the other platforms
iPhone / iPad
  1. 1. Open MixSafe using the button below.
  2. 2. Tap the share button at the bottom of Safari.
  3. 3. Scroll the sheet down and choose “Add to Home Screen”.
  4. 4. The name already says MixSafe — type over it if you would rather call it something else. Tap Add.
Android
  1. 1. Open MixSafe using the button below.
  2. 2. Tap the menu at the top right of Chrome.
  3. 3. Choose “Add to Home screen”. Some phones say “Install app” — it is the same thing.
  4. 4. The name box already says MixSafe, and anything you type replaces it. Tap Add.
What this does not do
  • It changes the tile, not your browser history. Anyone going through Safari or Chrome history will still find mixsafe.org there.
  • It is not a lock. Opening the app shows the checker, exactly as this site does.
  • It is a cover, not security. If someone is genuinely searching your phone, this will not stop them.
