What is MixSafe?
MixSafe is a free drug interaction checker at mixsafe.org. Enter two or more recreational drugs and it returns a severity rating for every pair, with a plain-language explanation and a source for each one. It is a harm-reduction reference — not a medical service, not a treatment provider, and not a product you buy or sign up for. MixSafe is unrelated to similarly-named products in other categories.
What does MixSafe do?
MixSafe — also written Mix Safe — is a free recreational drug interaction checker. It helps you check two or more drugs before mixing them: search by common, brand or street name to see each pair’s risk rating, an explanation of what it does to the body, and the sources behind it. It covers 41 substances and every one of the 820 combinations between them.
Is MixSafe free?
Yes, and it requires no account. Users are never charged and never will be. The costs are meant to be carried by institutions and grant funding — campus health services, harm-reduction organisations, venues — never by the people looking something up.
Where does MixSafe get its interaction data?
Most combinations come from the TripSit drug combination chart, a peer-maintained harm-reduction dataset. Pairs TripSit does not cover are researched and written by MixSafe, each with citations. Pairs nobody has documented are shown as “no data” rather than being guessed at.
Is MixSafe medical advice?
No. MixSafe is educational information written by a student, not by clinicians, and it does not replace a doctor, a pharmacist or poison control. It also cannot tell you a combination is safe: absence of a documented interaction means nobody has studied it, not that nothing happens.
Where these answers come from
Most combinations come from the TripSit drug combination chart, a peer-maintained harm-reduction dataset, retrieved 2026-08-20. Pairs it does not cover are filled in by our own research, each with citations. Everything else is reported as no data — which is not the same as safe.

Our mission
MixSafe — written Mix Safe by about half the people who look for it — exists to reduce harm through education. We believe that understanding is the first step toward safety, especially when it comes to substance use. Many people mix drugs unknowingly, unaware of the risks involved. Our mission is to provide clear and reliable information, so people can make informed, safer choices.
Why we built this
As college students, we’re constantly surrounded by a culture where drug use, recreational or otherwise, is common yet rarely discussed in honest terms. Searching for help can feel embarrassing or even risky. We built this tool because we believe knowledge should never be gatekept. This site doesn’t promote drug use; it promotes informed decisions, reduces misinformation, and encourages responsible behaviour in an imperfect world.
Who we are
I’m Elijah, a student of computer science and philosophy who believes that technology can serve as a moral tool. Safe drug use is something I care deeply about — not just because of its importance to health, but because I believe every person deserves access to knowledge that can protect their life. This project is a reflection of that belief.
