Privacy
Nothing here knows who you are.
People use this site to ask a question they would not ask out loud. It is built so that the question stays theirs. This page is the whole of what is and is not recorded.
What MixSafe never does
- No accounts. There is nothing to sign up for and no way to.
- No cookies, and nothing stored in your browser that identifies you. Two flags are kept on your device so a nudge shows once, and the kept (home-screen) copy caches pages so it works offline; none of that leaves your phone.
- No advertising and no ad network. The only third-party code on the page is the hosting provider's page counter, described below.
- Nothing you type or check is sent anywhere to be stored. The checker runs on your device; a shared link carries the mix in its address and nowhere else.
- No selling, sharing or renting of anything, because there is nothing to sell.
What it does record
- Aggregate page counts
- The site uses Vercel Web Analytics, which counts page views without cookies or a persistent identifier. It reports how many visits a page got, from which country, on what kind of device and from which referrer — as totals, never as a list of people.
- Page speed
- Vercel Speed Insights measures how quickly each page loads, with the same browser, device type and country details, and without cookies or an identifier. Neither this nor the page counts includes the part of an address after the “?”, so a checked mix is never sent.
- Campaign codes
- A QR code on a poster opens an address like mixsafe.org/f/rd. The code says which poster was scanned, so the sheets can be compared. It says nothing about who scanned it.
- Server logs
- The hosting provider keeps ordinary request logs for a short time to run the service. MixSafe does not use them to identify anyone.
Questions go to elijahcroft@mixsafe.org. Who built this and where the data comes from is on the about page; what institutions get is on the partners page.
