Mixing Caffeine and Lithium
- Caffeine also called
- coffee, energy drink, espresso, pre-workout
- Lithium also called
- lithium carbonate, lithobid, mood stabilizer
Caution
Caffeine increases renal lithium excretion, so heavy coffee or energy-drink use lowers blood lithium levels — and abruptly stopping caffeine can push them back up toward toxicity. The risk is instability rather than an acute event, but lithium has a narrow therapeutic window and this is a real cause of level swings.
The risk here is to the body — breathing, heart, temperature or organs. Set limits before you start, because this kind of harm does not announce itself in time to react.
Can you mix Caffeine and Lithium?
Carries risk that is worth understanding before combining. Reduce doses and do not use alone.

Checking more than two?
Combinations of three or more carry risks that no pair-by-pair chart can show. The checker rates every pair at once and flags the whole-mix ones on top.
